Unrivalled luxury duvet made from 100% eiderdown from the coldest regions in the world. The casing is also of the very highest quality, made from a unique blend of the finest cashmere wool and Tencel. These exceptional materials form the foundation of the world’s most luxurious duvet. Unlike other types of down, the fine eiderdown clusters cling to each other so they don’t separate, and therefore don’t clump together. What’s more, you can’t feel the tiny fine quills of the eiderdown at all, so the duvet can truly be hugged and wrap around you at night in pure softness and airiness.

An eiderdown duvet is a long-term investment. Eiderdown lasts much longer than other types of filling for duvets. There are several examples of eiderdown duvets that are more than 100 years old and have been passed down between generations. When eiderdowns are so durable, you can transfer the eiderdowns to a new duvet spring when the generation changes, so that the next generation gets a completely new duvet that can be used throughout their lives, and pass on to another generation.

It is a slow and time-consuming process to obtain eider down. You look after the eider bird and wait until it has built its nest, hatched its young, and the ducklings have left the nest again. Only then are the small, fine eider down hand-collected from the abandoned nests. Eider birds live freely and in limited areas in some of the coldest regions of the world – such as Iceland or the northernmost part of Finland – which means that the amount of eider down is very limited.

It is the climate, the food, the surroundings and the life of the eider birds that determine how much down is available per year. When the eider down is collected from the nests, it is dried and cleaned on a down harp, this is also done by hand. It must be said to be true craftsmanship without comparison. In addition, we also manually fill the spring with the eider down in the production premises in Vamdrup.

Certifications

The eider down duvets are the only duvets that we produce with pure natural filling that do not carry the DownPass 2017 label. This is because the down is collected from abandoned nests and does not come directly from the animals. Therefore, the animal-friendly and ethical aspects are not relevant for this type of natural filling. That said, there is no doubt that our suppliers are extremely concerned about the well-being of the birds in their areas – otherwise they will just find new nesting sites, as they live their wild lives as free birds. As you can see in the pictures from one of our suppliers, it is even possible to build your nest under a roof.

In addition, our eiderdown duvets are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1, NOMITE and Downafresh Greenline. And as something completely new, our new casing is made of cashmere and Tencel, which is why the duvets also carry the Tencel certification.

Maintenance

Should be aired and brushed with a soft brush. Do not beat, vacuum, wash or dry clean. Can be spot-cleaned with a tightly wrung sponge and a mild enzyme-free detergent.
