Bed linen with a history
The art of producing silk was invented in China 5,000 years ago, and the Chinese are still leaders when it comes to raw silk and processed silk products, such as high-quality silk bedding. The silkworm larvae that spin the fine silk threads feed on freshly chopped mulberry leaves—hence the name mulberry silk. After 30 days, the larva is fully grown and begins spinning the cocoon, which consists of a 3,000–4,000 m silk thread. Only the very best quality—around 800 m—is used for weaving silk bedding. The production process takes place without any use of chemicals.

The best quality
Silk bedding from Butterfly Silk of Copenhagen is made from the finest mulberry silk with a momme weight of 19. The bedding is satin-woven and fastens with a zipper. There are also tie ribbons in the corners of the duvet cover, so the duvet doesn’t “slip away”. Butterfly Silk of Copenhagen is, of course, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

What is momme?
Momme is a method where you calculate how good the silk is by using the weight of the silk. Momme indicates the quality and durability of the silk. Butterfly Silk of Copenhagen is manufactured exclusively in Momme 19. Grade A Mulberry silk, also known as Mulberry silk, is the silk equivilant to Egyptian cotton.

Care instructions
100% silk satin. The bedding can be hand-washed or machine-washed on a delicate cycle at 30–40°C. Use a silk detergent that does not contain enzymes. For machine washing, turn the cover inside out. Never use fabric softener on silk bedding. Ironing is not necessary, but if desired, do so before it is completely dry. Silk bedding is not suitable for tumble drying.
